Academy Tutorial 2024

The Patton Foundation recently hosted its Patton Entrepreneurship Grant (PEG) Challenge at The Academy Tutorial, a college preparatory program in Nashville. Modeled after the popular “Shark Tank” format, the competition featured six high school finalists pitching innovative business ideas to a panel of judges.

First prize and a $5,000 grant went to Kylie Bachman for MyTemp Stick, a color-changing coffee stirrer that indicates when a beverage is at the perfect temperature. Second and third place were awarded to Justice Frohock’s Jomo, a mentorship-based, tech-free café, and Moriah Plattner’s Single Bites, a plan to offer smaller portions of groceries for students and individuals.

The PEG Challenge is part of the Foundation’s broader mission to equip young leaders to think entrepreneurially, pursue bold ideas, and lead with impact in business, nonprofit, and civic innovation.
